Prof. Dr. BARTHOLD VONEN
Institute for Community Medicine, University of Tromsø, Norwegen

Tromsø University (UiT) Medical School. PhD in experimental endocrinology 1992. Training in general and gastrointestinal surgery at University Hospital of Northern Norway, working as consultant in colorectal surgery and later head of department of gastrointestinal surgery until 2009. Professor of surgery (UiT) 2000-2013. CMO at Nordland Hospital Trust 2010-2016. 2009-2010 introducing WHO Safe Surgery check list in Norway. Director of Center for Clinical Documentation and Evaluation from 2016, developing health atlases for Norway and providing support for all national medical quality registers.  Professor of Health Care Research (UiT) from 2013. Main clinical research areas last 10 years: Patient safety methods, anal incontinence and rectal cancer. Current research topics are studies of regional and small area variation in use of health care.
